The newest edition of the WWE franchise will be available for both old and current-gen Xbox and PlayStation consoles, and for PC users. WWE 2K22, as of the title’s release announcement, will not be available for the Nintendo Switch. Let’s tell you what we know about this question. Thanks to new information released by 2K Sports, we have an answer. With WWE 2K22 right around the corner on March 11, many Nintendo owners may be wondering if the drought will end in 2022. That title was the only one in the WWE 2K franchise to be released for the Nintendo Switch. Outside of the release of a non-simulation game, a new WWE 2K game has not gone live on the platform since 2017 with the release of WWE 2K18.

WWE 2K22's early access launches March 8, 2022, everyone else can play from March 11, and it's coming to PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC.It’s been quite some time since a WWE 2K game has been released for the Nintendo Switch. There have been reports some recently released Superstars might even make the cut.

The nWo, Edge, Mysterio, and Undertaker have all been confirmed for the game, plus presumably everyone you can see in the trailer above.
That's the one element of 2K22 that remains a little up in the air. The graphics and playability will need to be good on last-gen consoles too though as many are still in use due to an ongoing shortage of PS5s and Xbox Series X|S consoles. You would certainly hope so as this will be the first WWE game launching on PlayStation and Xbox's new consoles. 2K22 will run on a new engine, has improved visuals, new controls, and better graphics.
Changes on that front will be what makes or breaks WWE 2K22, and it sounds like a lot of work has gone into making the game look and feel better. The technical, visual, and graphical issues were what pushed the series off the edge of a cliff and resulted in a hiatus. Wrestling games had felt more or less the same with an updated roster for a while before the disaster that was 2K20. You will also be able to use those creations in MyRISE, a mode that tasks you with starting from the bottom and plotting your way to WWE superstardom. The Creation Suite will still be a big part of the game, letting you make yourself or to create wrestlers who aren't on the roster if you're creative enough.
Universe Mode remains, allowing you to create your very own WWE as you book and compete in as many or as few matches as you like. Quite a few elements and game modes will remain in place. Assume the role of Mysterio and play through his career, reliving some of his most iconic matches and moments.Įven though 2K22 will be an all-new take on the series, not everything from the previous games needed to be scrapped. The chance to play along in what will effectively be 2K22's story mode. That also means Mysterio will be the centerpiece of the returning 2K Showcase. Since 2022 marks the 20th anniversary of Rey Mysterio's debut in WWE, the good folks at 2K have selected the legendary luchador to be the cover star this year. Who should grace the cover of wrestling games each year is always a hotly debated topic among fans.
